Commentary
Warwick agents penned 1,759 lambs and 608 mutton. The yarding contained quality runs of young lambs suited to the restocker which sold to dearer trends of $10 to $40/head. Light weight lambs to the butcher trade sold to prices close to last week with those suited to the processor market improving in price from $2 to $16/head. Hoggets and ewe mutton struggled to maintain last weeks rates however heavy wethers and ram lambs improved in prices from $17 to $35/head.
Light weight young lambs to restockers sold from $70 to $106/head. Young lambs in the 16-18kg range to restockers sold from $108 to $140/head. Older lambs to the butcher trade sold from $139 to $150/head. Lambs in the 18-20kg range to feeder and restocker buyers sold from $130 to $170/head. Lambs in the 20-22kg range to the wholesale meat trade sold from $140 to $187/head. Lambs to processors sold from $180 to $270 with heavy lambs topping at $324/head.
Hoggets to processors sold from $136 to $194/head. Light weight ewes to restockers sold from $70 to $117/head. Heavy ewes to processors sold from $108 to $190/head. Merino wethers to restockers sold from $98 to $110 with heavy wethers to processors at $128 to $220/head. Ram lambs to the local butcher trade sold from $120 to $152/head. Rams to processors sold from $120 to $132/head.
