Commentary
6898 cattle were scanned in Tamworth. 655 less then last week. It was mostly a good quality yarding with large numbers of cows on offer once again. A full field of buyers were present and active with steady competition from the south on restocker cattle.
Young cattle to the trade were sought after with the steers making between 420c and 460c/kg while the heifers ranged from 220c to 420c/kg. Yearling steers to feed were considerably cheaper they made between 370c and 492c/kg while the heifers ranged between 350c and 442c/kg. Light cattle to the restocker were also cheaper the steers topped at 490c while the heifers made it to 438c/kg
Prime grown cattle were over 40c cheaper. The prime grown steers topped at 430c/kg while the prime grown heifers made it to 424c/kg. Cows were over 25c cheaper across the board. 2 and 3 score cows to the processor were heavily represented and made between 172c and 330c/kg. Prime heavy weight cows made from 305c to 359c/kg to average 332c. Cows back to the paddock ranged betwwen 204c and 286c/kg. Bulls made it to 375c/kg.
