Shepparton Cattle Sale Report
Report Date: 8th July 2025
Total Yarding: 1,800
Commentary
There were 1075 exports and 630 trade cattle yarded, amongst the exports were 600 cows. Quality deteriorated throughout both the export and trade cattle sections. A full field of exporters showed spirited competition on both the beef and dairy cows. In particular, store condition or leaner cows jumped significantly, 20c to 30c/kg with the reduction of numbers around the state causing processors to scramble to secure constant cow numbers.
The trade cattle were largely full of store conditioned, young, light weight calves and yearlings. Plainer cattle seemed to take a stronger outlook. Trade cattle saw mixed price trends. The vealers to the paddock made from 285c to 385c/kg, while processors paid from 390c to 480c/kg. The yearling steers made from 380c to 472c/kg. The yearling heifers made from 288c to 450c/kg.
Friesian steers ranged from 288c to 335c/kg. The 500 to 600kg steers made from 405c to 440c/kg. The heavy dairy cows made from 308c to 345c/kg, with beef cows ranging from 335c to 380c/kg, 10c to 20c/kg.
