Report Date: 23rd April 2024
Total Yarding: 950
Commentary
With the short week in our midst, numbers declined. There were 660 exports and 300 trade cattle penned. The exports and heavy cattle were of fair to good quality. There was still some further afield faces at the rails, prices however still struggled, the odd better type animal held firm while plainer types slid a further 10c/kg across most weights. Not many beef cows about.
The trade cattle were again of very plain quality, and clearly showing the affects of the dry conditions. Lighter weighted vealers were on hand and went back out to store buyers. The vealers ranged from 235c to 372c/kg. The yearling steers made from 280c to 315c/kg, while the yearling heifer portion to the trade made from 260c to 325c/kg.
The 500 to 600kg steers made from 261c to 320c/kg. The 600kg plus bullocks made to 330c/kg. The baron heifers reached 310c/kg. Beef cows made from 210c to 247c to average 239c/kg, while the heavy dairy cow portion made from 166c to 230c/kg.
