Commentary
Lamb numbers eased and the quality remains mixed. There were plenty of light and secondary trade lambs and only a small run of trade weight lambs with a good fat cover. Heavy lambs were limited. The market sold to stronger trends with gains of $9 to $12 on the light and secondary trade lambs and the better trade lambs were $13 to $16 stronger. The limited supply of heavy weights were firm.
Light 2 score processing lambs sold from $55 to $116/head. The medium and heavy trade weights 20 to 24kg ranged from $135 to 168/head averaging 680c with the best out to 725c/kg for second cross lambs. The 24 to 26kg lambs $169 to $174/head or 670c/kg and 26kg and heavier reached $198/head. The best of the hoggets reached $135/head.
Muton numbers eased and the quality remains mixed but prices lifted $10 to $15/head. Medium weight ewes sold from $37 to $89/head, heavy crossbred ewes reached $99 and Merinos $100/head and most averaged from 275c to 290c/kg cwt.
