Report Date: 23rd April 2024
Total Yarding: 930
Commentary
Numbers declined and the yarding was rather plain, with a limited supply of well-finished cattle. Not all buyers were active, particularly in the export class. The market saw mixed trends, and prices were distorted due to the lack of numbers.
A few vealers sold from 300c to 380c/kg. Trade steers were limited, selling at 280c to 354c, gaining 15c/kg. Heifers attracted both feedlots and domestic buyers, selling from 240c to 352c/kg. Feeder steers of medium weight traded from 280c to 336c, seeing a lift of 15c/kg.
In the export sale, very few heavy steers were offered, with the bulk selling from 247c to 310c/kg. The cow market gained pace for the better-finished heavy types, although prices slipped 16c averaging 231c/kg. Leaner cows sold at 136c to 175c/kg.
