Commentary
Numbers lifted with cows making up over half the offering. The quality of the offering improved for trade cattle with most grain assisted. The sale again featured grain assisted cows, which drew interest from buyers. Secondary cattle were keenly sought if a certain breed with most heading to feedlots or back to the paddock.
A few vealer sold to processors from 370c to 410c/kg. Trade steers and heifers that benefitted from grain assistance created intense bidding, with sales ranging from 340-448c/kg. Meanwhile, competition for feeder steers was strong despite a limited supply. Prices were recorded between 376-428c/kg, while the heifer portion ranged from 390-400c/kg.
On the export front, well-bred steers weighing between 500-600kg were primarily purchased by feedlots, with prices ranging from 420-435c/kg. Heavy steers destined for processors sold within the range of 357-420c/kg.
In the cow sale, grain-assisted cows attracted intense bidding, with prices similar to the previous sale to average 350c/kg. Leaner cows, on the other hand, sold at stronger price trends prices, ranging from 246-338c/kg. Heavy bulls varied in price from 280c to 325c/kg.
