Commentary

Numbers rose a little this week as agents offered 8,340 lambs and 1,277 sheep to total a combined 9,617 head overall with more lambs but less sheep coming forward. These sold to the usual array of trade and processor buyers along with a number of strong restocker order’s seeking lambs to grow on. Quality was mixed in an erratic market with the best sales $2 to $5/head better in price however there were sales either side of firm dependant on the contents of the pen and the enthusiasm of the buyers on the rail.

Light lambs ranged from $20 to $110 with the lightweight trade lots returning from $105 to $124/head. Restocker orders operated from $90 to $141/head. Tradeweight pens sold from $110 to $152/head with most sales being from 610c to 660c/kg cwt. Heavy lambs returned from $147 to $175 with the extra heavy lots making from $176 to the market high of $220/head.

Hoggets sold to $88 as light sheep made from $12 to $36/head. Medium weighted sheep returned from $44 to $60 with the heavy lots making from $63 to $100/head. Wethers sold to $73 as rams ranged from $8 to $51/head.
