Commentary
Numbers lifted by almost 3000 head from last week presenting 8500 lambs and 4500 sheep. There were good quality lines of both lambs and sheep offered throughout the yarding with pricing across most categories increasing.
The usual faces were present in the buying group and while some were stepping back from the rail, this had no impact on values.
Approximately 270 light weight New season Dorper lambs were offered ranging from $139 to $170 weighing up to 16kg cwt and sold to top of $202 up to 19kg cwt.
Store lambs overall gained $8/10 starting from $70 up to $182 for bigger framed Merinos while light lambs also gained $10 selling from $160 to $222/head. Trade lambs lifted $6/8 returning $170 to $263 and heavy lambs were $10/12 dearer to realize $289/head.
Merino wether hoggets were up $8/10 starting from $110 up to $230 with more weight and a skin and the same for Merino ewe hoggets returning $130 to $239/head. heavy Crossbred hoggets ranged from $150 to $221 and younger rams sold to a top $260/head.
Boning mutton ranged from $70 to $169 while medium ewes returned $144 to $218 lifting $8/10 and heavy ewes sold up $240 with a fleece. Heavy wethers made $168 to $260 while mature rams depending on age and quality ranged from $20 to $144/head.
