Today’s sale was slightly less in volume than last week with a very similar line up of ewes and lambs. Large supplies of trade weight and heavy lambs dominated the yarding again this week although overall they were slightly lighter on average while mutton supplies again were conservative. With a crowded buying field demand was high on most categories of sheep and lambs lifting the market as a whole by $10/15/head.
Small framed store lambs started from $77 and sold up to $204 while light lambs made $189 to $224 gaining $5/7/head. Heavier lambs gained $8/10 with trade weights selling from $192 to $245 and heavy lambs returned $230 to $286/head.
Merino wether hoggets sold from $180 to $226 while Merino ewe hoggets were making $161 to $222/head. Crossbred hoggets with weight and finish returned $180 to $240 and younger rams sold to a top of $278/head.
Boning ewes ranged from $90 to $180 to remain equal while medium weights lifted $10/12 to return $172 to $240 and heavy ewes from $230 to $251, also gaining $10/15/head. Heavy wethers were also up $10 ranging from $170 to $240 and mature rams sold from $30 to $184 while a grazier paid $310 for 1 Dorper cross ram.
