Mt Barker Cattle Sale Report

Total Yarding: 763
Commentary
Numbers were up for a total yarding of 763 head at Mt Barker. A mainly good quality yarding again dominated by light weight weaner calves seeing all categories following last weeks upward trend. Feeder buyers were seeking the heavy weights paying up to 425c for yearling steers. An increased number of trade weight cattle were on offer with prices topping at 398c for steers and 316c for heifers. Heavy cows gained 10c while store cows and bulls were up as well.
Weaner steers sold from 374c to 424c for heavy weights and from 360c to 422c for the lighter weights. Weaner heifers made 316c to 380c for heavy weights and 222c to 350c for lighter weights.
Yearling steers sold from 360c to 426c while yearling heifers made from 204c to 338c/kg.
Grown steers weighing over 600kg sold from 276c to 332c while lighter weights made 324c to 398c/kg. Grown heifers weighing over 540kg made 275c to 316c /kg.
Heavy weight cows made 200c to 264c, medium cows remained firm at 200c to 226c while store cows returned 160c to 234c and heavy bulls gained selling from 216c to 244c /kg.
