Mt Barker Cattle Sale Report

Commentary
Numbers were down for a total yarding of 740 head at Mt Barker. A mixed quality yarding again dominated by light weight weaner calves with prices fluctuating on quality for the young cattle while processing cattle trended up with demand. Light weight weaner steers gained topping at 430c while weaner heifers eased selling to 336c/kg. Heavy and medium weight cows gained 30c while store cows and all bull categories followed the upward trend.
Weaner steers sold from 396c to 412c for heavy weights and from 370c to 444c for the lighter weights. Weaner heifers made 278c to 326c for heavy weights and 286c to 336c for lighter weights.
Heavy yearling steers sold from 350c to 416c while yearling heifers made from 270c to 348c with demand for quality Angus pens.
Grown steers weighing over 600kg made 324c while lighter weights sold from 328c to 344c/kg. Grown heifers weighing over 540kg made 238c to 328c /kg.
Heavy weight cows made 220c to 290c, medium cows gained selling at 220c to 298c while store cows returned 168c to 240c/kg. Heavy bulls gained selling from 180c to 262c medium weights made 210c to 268c and light weight bullies returned 252c to 286c/kg.
