Commentary

Numbers were down for a mainly good quality yarding of 1189 head of cattle at Mt Barker. A quality offering of weaner steers saw heavy weights ease while lightweights gained 35c selling to 546ckg. Weaner and yearling heifers gained in all weight categories with demand while small numbers of heavy cows and bulls eased.

Weaner steers weighing over 380kg sold from 460c to 492c, heavy weights sold from 440c to 500c, steers under 330kg returned 444c to 528c and lighter weights under 280kg gained on quality selling from 480c to 546c/kg.
Weaner heifers weighing over 380kg gained 15c selling from 450c to 458c, lighter weights sold from 402c to 454c, weights under 330kg made 380c to 426c and weights under 280kg returned 412c to 416c/kg.

Yearling steers sold from 430c to 464c quality dependent while yearling heifers made 390c to 474c /kg.

Bullocks weighing over 600kg sold from 350c to 358c and lighter weights returned 350c to 380c/kg.

Grown heifers weighing under 540kg sold for 336c while heavier weights returned 320c to 406c /kg.

Heavy weight cows sold from 300c to 338c, medium weights made 326 and store cows returned 220c to 286c /kg. Heavy bulls sold from 290c to 312c/kg.
