Total Yarding: 10,435

Commentary

Numbers were down for a total of 10,435 sheep and lambs at Katanning. Store lambs again dominated the yarding with very lightweight lambs easing with restocker buyers scarce, all other weight categories remained firm or gained $10/head. Best heavy lambs reached $271/head while a consignment of sappy new season lambs were in demand reaching 1095c for trade weights and 1120c per kg cwt for heavy weights. Mutton quality and numbers were down with prices reflecting the best heavyweight ewes sold to $231/head.

New season lambs under 20kg cwt made $180 to $187 while the heavier 20 to 24kg cwt lines sold for $241 to $269/head.

Old season lambs weighing under 16kg cwt sold from $45 to $156 while heavier lambs made $120 to $195/head. Trade weight lambs were selling from $170 to $224 and heavy weight lambs sold to $271/head. Ram lambs made from $80 to $200, weight dependent.

Xbred hoggets returned $160 to $189 for heavy weights.

Light weight Merino wether hoggets ranged from $40 to $158 while the ewe hoggets returned from $42 to $156 for light weights while heavier prime ewes made $165 to $231/head.

Store mutton made from $71 to $161 while the prime medium weight ewes returned $171 to $196 and heavy weight ewes over 30kg cwt sold from $190 to $231/head. Mature wethers made $140 for store lines while medium weights sold to $174/head. Mature rams sold from $20 to $120 head.
