Commentary

Lamb numbers were back at 2,100 and 1,000 sheep were yarded at Horsham this week at Horsham. Quality ranged from average to good with several pens of nice quality heavy lambs yarded. Most of the regular buying group attended and operated in a solid market with quality lambs selling from $10 to $15/head up on last week in places. Heavy trade weight lambs sold from $270 to $284/head with the heavy weight lambs selling from $320 to $400/head. Merino lambs sold to $241 with the dorper lambs selling from $246 to $308/head. Feeders and restocker’s were again active paying from $223 to $275 and from $156 to $184/head for the lighter weights. They paid from $210 to $315 for dorper lambs and from $100 to $199/head for Merino lambs. The sheep offering covered all weights and grades with most of the regular buying group operating, sheep continue to sell strongly to be to $10/head up on last week. Merino ewes sold to $278, crossbred ewes sold to $270 with dorper ewes selling to $285/head.

Light weight lambs sold to $200/head averaging 1100c/kg cwt. Heavy trade weight lambs sold from $270 to $284/head and averaged 1075c/kg cwt. Export weight lambs sold from $290 to $328/head and averaged 1050c/kg cwt. Extra heavy weight lambs sold from $320 to $400/head to average 1020c/kg cwt. Hogetts sold to $240/head.

Medium weight sheep sold from $143 to $190/head to average 800c/kg cwt. Heavy Merino ewes sold from $213 to $278/head to average from 760c to 820c/kg cwt. Heavy crossbred ewes sold from $185 to $270/head and averaged 720c to 775c/kg cwt. Heavy dorper ewes sold from $201 to $285/head. Rams sold from $56 to $180/head.
