Commentary
Gunnedah’s last sale for the year produced a yarding of 1050. It was a fair quality yarding with some good runs of well finished grown steers and heifers along with good numbers of cows. There was a fair selection to suit the feeders along with some good runs of weaners to suit the restockers.
Limited numbers of young cattle to the trade were firm with prime yearlings selling to 436c/kg. Feeder steers were up to 20c cheaper on quality while the feeder heifers were up to 30c/kg dearer. Feeder steers sold from 430c to 474c while the feeder heifers sold from 398c to 465c/kg. Young steers to the restockers were a little cheaper while the young heifers were dearer. The young steers sold to 500c while the young restocker heifers sold to 468c/kg.
Grown steers and heifers were up to 14c dearer with the prime grown steers selling from 400c to 496c/kg. Prime grown heifers sold from 385c to 458c/kg. Cows were 30c to 45c cheaper with the 2 and 3 scores to the processors selling from 200c to 338c/kg. Prime heavy weight cows sold from 340c to 365c to average 351c/kg. Cows to the restockers sold from 170c to 366c/kg. Heavy bulls sold to 394c/kg
