Commentary
Lamb number eased and the quality was similar with good numbers of heavy and extra heavy lambs off hard feed. Most of the trade weights were Dorpers and there was a small tail of light lambs. Not all the usual buyers were operating but prices held firm on most lambs with the exception Merinos which eased $10 to $15/head.
The few 2 score processing lambs sold from $75 to $110/head. Trade lambs to 24kg cwt sold from $137 to $153/head and averaged from 630c to 650c/kg. The 24 to 26kg lambs sold from $156 to $176/head. Heavy lambs started at $180 and reached $216/head and the extra heavy lambs ranged from $217 to a top of $241.20/head and most ranged between 680c and 720c/kg. Heavy Merino lambs reached $186/head and the best of the hoggets were crossbreds reaching $110/head.
Mutton numbers eased and the quality was good with mostly heavy mutton penned. Prices were firm on the lighter weights and stronger on the heavy weights. Medium weight ewes ranged from $50 to $75 and heavy Merinos in wool reached $100/head. Heavy crossbreds reached $105/head with the majority of the heavy mutton over 300c/kg cwt.
