Commentary

Lamb numbers were down by 2500 for a yarding of 19050. It was only a fair quality yarding with only odd pens of well finished heavy weight lambs and trade weights mixed throughout. There were large numbers of Merinos yarded a number of which were in from the far west.

Lightweight lambs to the processors were $14 dearer with the 12kg to 18kg 2 scores selling from $100 to $187/head. Trade lambs were $8 to $15 dearer with the 20kg to 24kg lambs selling from $207 to $277 to average between 1050c and 1100c/kg cwt. Heavy weight lambs were $8 to $12 dearer with the lambs over 24kg selling from $250 to $353/head to average 1080c/kg cwt. Merino lambs were $14 to $20 dearer with the trade weights selling from $159 to $232/head. Lambs to the restockers remain keenly sought after with young crossbreds selling from $100 to $161 while Merino lambs to the restockers sold from $28 to $160/head. Hoggets sold to $235/head.

There were 5250 mutton yarded where most grades were firm to $5 dearer. Merino ewes sold from $75 to $255 while crossbred ewes sold from $107 to $257/head. Very heavy Aussie White ewes sold to $280 and Merino wethers sold from $110 to $211/head. Carcass prices averaged between 635c and 690c/kg cwt.
