Commentary
Interim Report. Following the widespread reduction in prices at the previous sale numbers at Dalby eased by close to 3,000 head to 5,132 and the cow component declined to 1,291 head. Also included was one consignment of 242 head from Thargomindah. The yarding also featured a fair sample of 939 head from far western Queensland and a small supply of 33 head from New South Wales. The regular panel of export and feeder buyers were in attendance and operating.
Medium and heavy weight yearling steers to feed at the time of this interim report have lost a further 10c to 15c/kg. Buyers remained selective on heavy weight yearling heifers to feed with only the better quality lines attracting strong competition. A larger number of plain condition cows came forward this week and prices remained firm to 3c/kg less.
Medium weight yearling steers to feed averaged 490c and made to 508c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed made to a top of 530c with most around 504c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed made to 492c and averaged 429c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed made to 498c to average 433c/kg.
A few bullocks made to 430c and averaged 429c/kg. A large number of medium weight very plain condition cows averaged 296c and made to 326c/kg. Medium weight 2 score cows made to 340c to average 334c/kg. Heavy weight 3 score cows averaged 365c and the best of the cows made to 385c to average 380c/kg. A couple of heavy weight bulls found a new home at 438c/kg and returned $3,965/head
