Don't pay too much for sheep EIDs

Commentary

Numbers lifted by 2511 for yarding of 5949 lambs. Quality improved with good supplies of trade and heavy weight lambs, the usual supply of lightweight store lambs was also available. Most of the regular buyers were operating.

Lightweight lambs to 18kg lifted $10 selling from $110 to $195/head. Trade weights 20kg to 24kg were up $20, selling from $244 to $270/head to average 1100c to 1160c/kg cwt. Heavyweight lambs to 30kg sold from $251 to $327, and extra heavies sold to $340/head. Heavy hoggets sold to $240/head.

There was 1962 mixed quality mutton yarded, and prices held strong. Merino ewes sold from $110 to $190 and crossbred ewes $140 to to $250/head. Most sheep sold between 650c and 700c/kg cwt.
