Report Date: 24th April 2024

Total Yarding: 428

Commentary

The short week saw the number of cattle well down for a yarding of 428 head, consisting mainly of young cattle along with a small penning of cows. The yarding of young cattle was fairly mixed, although there was a few lines of well bred weaners through the sale.

Not all the regular buyers were present resulting in a cheaper market for all classes of cattle. Restocker weaner steers sold from 216c to 364c, while restocker weaner heifers ranged from 176c to 266c, and vealer to process sold from 216c to 265c/kg.

The yarding of export cattle consisted mainly of cows, with insufficient numbers of grown steers and heifers for a reliable quote. There was a smaller line up of export buyers operating resulting in cheaper prices. Medium weight 2 score cows sold from 150c to 174, while 3 and 4 score cows ranged from 174c to 202c/kg.
