Commentary
3945 cattle were yarded in Armidale an increase of 1170 cattle. Cows made up a large portion of the yarding for a mostly cheaper trend as the large numbers begin to saturate markets. All major buyers were present and active. Young cattle were in limited supply with local weaner sales in full swing.
Yearling steers to feed ranged from 470c to 538c/kg yearling heifers to feed were 10 to 15c cheaper 390c to 446c/kg. Restocker steers were also 15c cheaper and made from 406c to 480c/kg. Restocker heifers were 20c cheaper and made from 330c to 406c/kg.
Prime grown steers and heifers were both back 10c. The steers ranged from 421c to 448c/kg while the heifers ranged 348c to 440c/kg. 2 and 3 score cows were 20c cheaper they made from 310c to 372c/kg. Prime heavy weight cows also cheaper they made from 370c to 387c to average 378c/kg. Restocker cows ranged from 322 to 384c/kg and heavy bulls reached 420c/kg.
