Commentary

Smaller yarding leading into the disrupted Anzac Day trading week. Quality also declined with very few lines of well finished trade and heavy lambs available. Not all the regular buyers attended and there wasn’t much keenness shown, with quality and number in a pen often factors behind the dull support. Price results were often weaker than a fortnight ago but need to be viewed alongside the limiting factors of quality and supply.

Heavy lambs sold to $178 with most of the better presented trade lambs from $138 to $158/head. Light lambs to processors generally $60 to $120 for the better lines. Smallest lambs and odd lots below $30 at times.

There was only around 1000 sheep offered and the same issues played out around supply and buyers being able to purchase necessary numbers for transport. Prices were cheaper than a fortnight ago with the majority of sheep from $50 to $90 per head.
