Commentary
The supply of stock remained close to last week with Warwick agents penning 964 lambs and 717 mutton. The yarding was dominated by store lambs and light mutton. All the regular buyers attended however with the limited supply of suitable trade and heavy lambs it resulted in dearer trends for all lines.
Young lambs in the 12-16kg range to restockers sold from $84 to $150/head. Young lambs in the 16-18kg range to restockers sold to $154 with those to feeder operators at $170/head. Young lambs over 18kg to the butcher trade sold to $202/head. Older lambs in the 18-20kg range to processors sold from $172 to $230/head. Lambs to the wholesale meat trade gained $29 and sold from $219 to $280/head. Lambs in the 22-24 kg range to processors sold from $264 to $296 up by $16/head. Heavy lambs to processors sold from $288 to $340/head.
Hoggets to processors lifted by $49 and sold from $173 to $287/head. Merino ewes to restockers sold to $120/head. Ewes to processors sold from $131 to $227/head. Merino wethers to restockers sold to $148 with those to processors at $143 to $171/head. Meat rams sold from $139 to $180/head.
