Commentary

Lamb numbers increased while sheep supply fell. Little change in the overall supply. The quality of the lambs was very mixed where a good supply of heavy weights were a feature. The usual buyers were in attendance. There was increased local restocker competition following last weeks good rain.

Market trends varied through the lambs with the plainest of the restocker lambs selling to a cheaper trend. The better quality lots more forward in condition sold to dearer trends as fasteners look for a quicker return. Light weight trade experienced increased competition to sell to a dearer trend. Dorpers lambs in most weight categories sold on a firm to cheaper market trend with an odd exception. Crossbred lambs up to 26kg sold on a slightly cheaper trend with some quality and weight related price change. The heavy and extra heavy weight lambs saw a firm to slightly dearer market trend.

There were varying trends in the sheep market where light weight sheep sold to a. Slightly dearer trend. The medium weights experienced little but quality related change. There was a good supply of well finished heavy weight sheep penned. Those to process were dearer by $4 to $11/head. There was good restocker competition on Crossbred ewes with a breeding future.
