TRLX Tamworth Sheep Report
Report Date: 22nd April 2024
Total Yarding: 3,200
There were reduced numbers in both the sheep and the lambs. The quality of the lambs was very mixed while the heavy weight classes carried less weight than previous sales. The usual buyers were in attendance.
The mixed quality nature of the offering was reflected in price change while market trends varied. Some of the Crossbred lambs to restockers sold to dearer trends while the light weight trade lambs saw cheaper trends for the most part. 3 score trade lambs 18 to 22kg sold to a slightly dearer trend with quality related price change. Heavy and extra heavy weight lambs sold on a firm to cheaper market trend with weight related price variation also evident.
Well finished sheep attracted the strongest processor competition albeit at weight related cheaper prices. The market trend firm to dearer. Plainer condition sheep sold to cheaper trends for the most part with the plainest of the light weight Merino’s making little more than skin value.
