Commentary

Numbers fell away this week as agents yarded 990 head of liveweight and open auction cattle. These sold to a smaller field of trade and processor buyers with feeders present and there was a small amount of restocker activity. Quality was mixed at best as the market followed other markets this week and sold to a cheaper rates with some big falls over the pens.
Yearling steers made from 200c to 312c to the trade with similar heifers selling from also 200c to 310c to lose from 25c to 35c/kg. Feeder steers sold from 230c to 300c with the heifer portion making from 201c to 281c as restockers turned cattle back out from 215c to 313c/kg over both sexes.
Grown steers and bullocks lost up to 15c as they sold from 270c to 320c with feeder activity from 244c to 319c/kg. Grown heifers attracted the trade from 220c to 270c as manufacturing steers returned from 120c to 224c/kg.
Heavy cows eased from 20c to 40c as they sold from 210c to 248c with the lighter lots ranging from 130c to 218c as bulls sold from 150c to 220c/kg.
