Commentary

With rain falling in the supply are over the last few days numbers eased and the quality also fell. Prime trade cattle and heavy grown steers and heifers were in short supply and cow numbers were back. Restockers were keen to purchase the plainer cattle and lighter steers and heifers. There was a large run of light HGP cattle. Not all the usual buyers were operating but the market sold to stronger trends.

Restockers paid up 65c/kg more for light steers which sold from 300c to 348c and heifers reached 300c/kg. Medium weight feeders were firm selling mainly from 290c to 360c/kg for the C muscle, heavy weights were 11c dearer reaching 346c/kg. medium weight heifers also remained firm averaging 277c but the heavy weights lifted 10c to 20c and mostly sold between 288c and 300c/kg. Trade cattle jumped 25c to 40c selling from 250c to 340c/kg.
The run of light Bos Indicus cattle HGP treated sold from 55c for light weights to 205c/kg for the heaviest.

Prime grown steers were 25c better selling from 270c to 330c and feeders paid up to 346c/kg. Grown heifers were 10c to 15c better on average and reached 320c/kg. Cows increased 25c with the dry heavy weights 216c to 235c and heavy PTIC cows reaching 254c/kg.
