Commentary

Numbers were back by 2160, with the last sale of the year yarding 3546 lambs. Quality was mixed with good runs of new season trade lambs penned, along with the regular supply of secondary store types. Most of the regular buyers were operating.

Lightweight new season lambs to processors were cheaper selling from $120 to $210/head. Trade weights 20kg to 24kg were firm selling from $232 to $278/head, averaging 1150c/kg cwt. Heavyweights over 24kg sold to $292, and young lambs to restockers sold from $110 to $230/head.

Trade weights old lambs were mixed in quality and sold from $185 to $268, and heavyweight old lambs sold to $290/head. Heavy hoggets reached $224/head.

There was 1359 mixed quality mutton yarded, and prices were firm to dearer. Merino ewes sold from $145 to $164, and crossbred ewes, $98 to $240/head. Merino wethers sold to $118, and crossbred wethers to $220/head. Most sheep sold in the range of 700c to 760c/kg cwt.
