Commentary

Numbers were back by 1368 for a small yarding of 2277 lambs. Quality was mixed with good supplies of trade and heavy lambs, along with the regular supply of lighter store types. Not all the regular buyers were operating and the market sold firm to a few dollars dearer.

Lightweight processing lambs to 18kg sold from $120 to $200/head. Trade weights 20kg to 24kg ranged from $268 to $310/head. Heavy lambs over 24kg sold from $284 to $355/head. Carcass prices averaged around 1220c/kg cwt. Light lambs to restockers sold to $266, and heavy hoggets reached $240/head.

There was 1593 mixed quality mutton yarded, and prices were firm to $5 better. Merino ewes sold from $144 to $230, and crossbred ewes, $195 to $289/head. Merino wethers sold from $205 to $240, and crossbred wethers, $190 to $261/head. Heavy rams sold to $180/head. Most sheep sold in the range of 840c to 880c/kg cwt.
