Commentary

Numbers fell for a limited yarding after considerable rain in the area and quality was varied throughout. There were some well finished lines along with the plainer lambs and there were mainly trade and heavy weights penned and a few new seasons were offered. All the buyers were present along with an extra and competition was good on the finished lambs and the market was mostly firm.

Heavy trade weight new season lambs sold from $260 to $286/head and averaged 1140c to 1165c/kg cwt. New season restockers sold from $190 to $200/head.

Heavy weight old lambs were firm and averaged 1130c to 1160c/kg cwt. Heavy weight lambs sold from $283 to $310 while extra heavies sold from $316 to $335/head.

Mutton numbers stayed steady and there were some good heavy ewes penned and they were $12 to $25/head dearer. Heavy first cross ewes sold from $224 to $324/head or 840c to 880c/kg cwt.

Commentary

Lamb supply remained steady and quality was very good for the well finished lines along with the plainer lambs lacking condition throughout. There were mostly trade and heavy weights penned, the light grades were limited with a few new season stores suitable for the restockers. All the buyers were operating along with an extra and competition was solid on the trade and softer on the heavy end.

Medium and heavy trade weight lambs were $2 to $5/head dearer and averaged from 1190c to 1200c/kg cwt. Heavy trade sold from $273 to $288/head.

Heavy weight lambs were firm to $7/head cheaper and averaged 1100c to 1160c/kg cwt. Heavy weight lambs sold from $291 to $312 while extra heavies sold from $312 to $354.20/head.

Mutton numbers increased and quality was varied with some goo heavy sheep offered and prices eased around$10/head. Heavy first cross ewes sold from $195 to $290/head or 780c to 815c/kg cwt.
