LOTUS HEREFORDS
Located in the picturesque New England region of NSW, Lotus Hereford Stud operates from "Old Farm" Pinkett and aims to produce cattle that are functional, profitable and versatile to suit the varied and regularly changing Australian conditions.
With sustainable a keyword in agriculture today we operate with just that in mind in our land management and the type of cattle we produce.
We believe that stud and commercial bulls should be of equal quality. Our stud and commercial cows are run as one herd using the same quality sires under the same conditions, selection and performance criteria based on structure, milk, temperament, constitution.
Like all beef producers, we have been performance recording well before Breedplan. We believe that Breedplan is a guide not a rule and should be used in conjunction with the visual appraisal of structure, temperament, skin and hair type.
We host an open day followed by our annual bull sale which is held in July.

FEMALES
Our females are central to our beef production operation.
Heifers are selected for structure, temperament and Hereford phenotype. As a breeder, they have to be productive every year, we are in the business of beef production, no 'freeloaders' are tolerated.
We run our stud & HPR females as one herd. The same selection criteria are across all females regardless of registration status. Both stud & HPR females are enrolled in breedplan.
We are working towards having all our females Genomics tested.

SALE BULLS
We offer for sale approx 45 bulls each year in July. These bulls are initially selected at branding time, and then periodically reduced until we have our final number. All bulls are selected on structure, temperament, coat, constitution, and phenotype.
Breedplan & Genomics - We are moving to have all our herd Genomics tested but this takes time. We will continue to submit data such as weights & scans for analysis with the view to providing more information and a solid basis to Genomics, our goal is to improve accuracy based on real data.
Bulls for sale are - sire verified - vet inspected - Breedplan recorded - semen tested - Genomics tested.
